Bi Nka Bi is an Early West African Adinkra symbol meaning ‘Nobody should bite another’. Stemming from Ma’at principles of justice, freedom, forgiveness, unity, harmony, peace, and the avoidance of conflict or strife.
‘Rather than conform, we look to transform’
Fiippin’ & Vibin is a multifaceted platform developed by myself – Dr. Christopher Jones - an Early Career Researcher and Athlete (see profile in ‘Dr. X’ link). The term “Flippin” revolves around my Flippin’ the Script Framework stemming from my PhD research. My framework offers individuals and groups a strategic guide to writing their own stories by challenging traditional or dehumanising narratives in an unexpected and/or transformative way. This content offers a space for diverse groups of people involved in any societal space whether that be students, researchers, community activists, leaders of social justice, and people involved in sports to vibe, learn, enhance, and share their work and lived experiences with me through the key features in the next section.

Diverse in our approach
What makes this Fippin’ & Vibin’ movement unique is it produces a space for academia, activism, athletics, or all simultaneously which offers people from all walks of life an opportunity to engage: A conversation that is missing in community and educational spaces. This is important to explore because institutions use the labour of teachers and lecturers through exploitative measures such as being underpaid while on fixed-term contracts alongside not providing an inclusive wider student experience for all students, particularly those from resilient minority backgrounds (I prefer this term rather than “disadvantaged”). Countless sporting organisations are also guilty by using students and professionals without prepping them for future career opportunities and offering minimal resources for coaches. For example, being an Early Career Researcher has been a challenging journey for myself and other researchers I know. The challenge is exacerbated when I’m in this rare yet privileged position to navigate academia as a former athlete with a PhD advocating for social justice, an anomaly experience that has brought opportunity yet a sense of isolation.
I would love to see the Flippin’ & Vibin’ platform grow and I need your help to do this. As you can see from my values and ethos, I want EVERYONE to win. The best way to win is by participating and engaging with the platforms podcast series, blog, and courses. Let’s come together by flippin’ the script, vibin’, and fostering a space for rehumanisation! 😊 <3
